At Cancer Core Europe, we closed the 2023 Lecture Series with a remarkable intervention from Suzette Delaloge with her talk, “Towards Building Risk-Based Cancer Interception”. The virtual lecture was led by Gustave Roussy in collaboration with CCE’s Early Detection & Prevention and Education & Training pillars.
Advancing Cancer Prevention
For more than an hour, Dr. Delaloge’s presented to the attendees, mainly researchers and clinicians from CCE centres, how she addresses cancer prevention. During the session, she explained how this approach may be enhanced by personalized cancer prevention and intervention. The identification of personal hazards, successful interventions, proper organization, high individual adherence, and positive psychosocial impact are all necessary. Suzette states that risk-based detection and prevention have to be widely available and reasonably priced in order to minimize the impact that cancer has on society.

In her talk, Dr. Delaloge discussed the state of the research for risk-based preventive strategies, both past and present, as well as how to design, test, and put into operation a national screening and care facility that can identify people who are at high risk of cancer and provide tailored health routes to them. She also described the current work being done to create interception trials, or biomarker-driven early detection and prevention.
Spearheading Innovations in Cancer Prevention and Oncology Care
Suzette’s main areas of expertise and development are precision risk-based cancer prevention, real-world data, breast cancer precision oncology, and the organization of care in oncology. She is currently an Associate Professor of Medical Oncology in the Department of Cancer Medicine and the Director of the Interception medical-scientific program at Gustave Roussy. Dr. Delaloge additionally co-leads Cancer Core Europe’s Early Detection & Prevention pillar and chairs the ESMO Breast Cancer Conference 2022–2024.
We appreciate all the people who attended this lecture and thank the fantastic Suzette for sharing with us her knowledge and experiences regarding accessible risk-based cancer prevention detection.
Until the next CCE lecture!
