In this edition of Meet the People Behind CCE, we introduce Sara Iadecola, a researcher at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, who has been involved in CCE_DART and took part in the 2025 CCE Summer School.
Sara holds a Master’s degree in Biostatistics and is currently pursuing a PhD in Life, Health and Chemical Sciences. She began collaborating with CCE through the CCE_DART project, where she contributed to the working area on patients. Her work focused on strengthening the role of patients in clinical research and improving access to clear, accessible information about clinical trials. She was also involved in the development of patient-centered digital tools, including the iENTER website (https://dart.datariverweb.com/iEnter/) and two web apps: iCONSENT, designed to support the informed consent process through electronic signatures, and iPARTICIPATE, created to facilitate document exchange, messaging, and appointment management between clinicians and patients.
This experience played a key role in shaping her research path. As Sara explains, it brought her closer to the field of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and to patient and public involvement in research—areas that are now central to her work.
Sara has also participated in CCE’s Summer School, where she highlighted the value of multidisciplinary collaboration, the importance of translating research into real clinical impact, and encouraged fellow researchers and clinician-scientists to apply.
It was an insightful interview—we invite you to watch it and learn more about Sara.
Thank you, Sara, for your time and for sharing your experience!
